Filing I-485 will cancel my F1?

Hi Sir/Madam,
I know F1 is not an immigrant intent visa. But if filing my I-485 will cancel my F1, can I still apply for OPT after that?

No filing 485 doesn't cancel your existing F1, but you can't apply for a new OPT after you file 485. So if you want to get OPT, do it before you file 485. Hope this helps!
