I need to go home for an emergency

I filed my 485 a while ago, but my father has gotten extremely ill and I need to go see him ASAP. He may not live very long. Does anyone know how I can go home in my current situation? I don't want to risk my green card, but family is important to me. Right now I have OPT STEM visa

friend, you can use the Advanced Parole (AP) to travel!
They will check your AP at the border and you also need to bring your passport and 485 receipt notice.

FYI, after you travel internationally with your AP, your STEM will be invalidated and you'll stay in the US based on your pending I-485.

Alexa, so how risky is it that I travel with AP? Are you saying that my visa will be terminated? But how do I stay in the US without a visa?

I think AP pretty much does it, risk is low.
So what I was saying is that once you enter the border with AP, they will mark something on your passport to note that you are now in a parolee status and not in OPT STEM visa. Parolee can legally stay in the US, however.
