I140 validity after changing employers

Hello there. I am on H1B and my company might be laying off people soon. My employer has filed I140 for me and it is approved. Priority date in 09/2012.
If I have to change employers, is my approved I-140 still valid? Looking for some expert opinions...thanks...

Is your approved I-140 under EB-1B?
If it's EB-1B, as long as you change employers after your I-485 has been pending for more than 180 days and you continue to engage in the same field, it should be okay.

Hi angryswan227, it was under EB-2 PERM, not EB-1B. What difference does it make? Can you please share more? Thanks!!
