Hi y’all,
My H-1B will expire in about 6 months. I just filed I-485. I heard it’s almost impossible to extend a nonimmigrant visa after filing I-485, but I’m nervous about relying on a pending I-485 to stay in the US. I heard that I could be deported if my I-485 is denied.
Can I extend H-1B still? Or should I just relax and hold the pending I-485?

Isn't H1b an immigrant visa that allows you to file I-485?
Based on this logic, you should be able to extend H1B after filing I-485 but it will be up to the USCIS to approve it.

Are you able to acquire O-1? If that's not possible, you can still try extend your H1B beyond the 6th year cap if you can recapture sometime outside of the U.S. But it is always the best if you can file I-140 at least 365 days before your visa reaches the cap.
