Need H1B in order to file for green card?

Hi friends!
Hope you all had a nice Holiday!
Do I need to change to H1B in order to file I-140? Some say it's best to do so.
But I'm currently on F1 an I'm not sure if my advisor wants to change me to H1B...I think it's because they have to pay for the fees...

It depends. If you were born in China like me, then you need to switch to H1B at some point in the future because retrogression may last years...

No. You can file I-140 on F-1. There should be no problem.
