I-485 still pending. Can I change employer?

My I-485 has been pending for nearly a year now. It is based on my EB-1B which was filed by my current employer. I'm not in a very stable position and I fear that I might get laid off at some point. Can I still keep my I-485 if I need to get a new job?

It's probably fine for you to change your job since your I-485 has been pending for over 180 days. But I would suggest you check with an attorney to see how you can keep your I-485 or move it safely with you to your new employer.

I also have a pending I-485 under EB-1B. My lawyer said I should stay with my employer even after I get my GC, at least for several months. I hope you will be fine and won't need to look for new jobs. Good luck!
